Our School Board

San Juan County Board of Education

The Silverton School Board is dedicated to fostering stability for teachers, students, and parents through thoughtful and positive decision-making, aiming to provide the highest quality education for our students.

Public meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. on the third floor in the teacher workroom, with regular sessions potentially followed by a closed Executive Session. Meeting dates, times, and details are available under Meeting Agendas & Minutes. Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate, with time allotted for public comment during the regular session.

The Board consists of five members elected to staggered four-year terms during biennial school elections held in November of odd-numbered years. Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old, a resident for 12 months, and a registered voter in the District. The Board sets policies for public education, while the Superintendent and staff work to implement them creatively and effectively.
