School Office Manager​

The Silverton School is a small public school located in Silverton, Colorado, in the heart of the San Juan mountain range. The school has approximately 75 students in grades K-12 and is housed in an historic 3 story red brick building.  Our school is unique in its very setting and its high emphasis on individualized instruction.  Our goal is to meet the individual learning needs of every student through curriculum that is both engaging and academically challenging.  We work to develop confident, competent students who consistently strive for excellence.

Basic Function:

The job of the School Office Manager is to help to manage the main school office in a way that keeps the school and the school day running safely and smoothly. This includes making teacher and classroom needs a priority, helping with communications and logistics, managing record keeping and reporting, organizing and documenting transportation, and handling other relevant duties as needed.  The School Office Manager reports to the Principal/Superintendent and is part of the Administrative Team which includes the Human Resources Manager and Finance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students, staff, parents, and visitors

  • Participate in teacher meetings and professional development sessions when required

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians

  • Manage Front Office Duties including:

    • Managing doors, door schedules, visitor check ins, maintenance visit access

    • Managing parent communications including around student absences and general communications

    • Answering phones and responding to email requests

    • Managing transportation scheduling and documentation

    • Managing student playground “injuries”...skinned knees, bumped heads, hurt feelings…

    • Maintaining both supply inventories and copiers

    • Managing mail and teacher orders

    • Helping with Safety and Fire Drills, monitoring safety cameras throughout the day

  • Student Records Management Duties including 

    • Daily Attendance

    • Records Request

    • Maintaining and filing student records 

  • Financial Systems Support including 

    • Taking in student and teacher payments

    • Helping to managing documentation from teachers

    • Scanning and filing purchase orders

  • Other related tasks as assigned by the Principal/Superintendent

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience working with students and supporting their education is preferred, but not required

  • Ability to adapt to a high paced work environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Belief in the Expeditionary Learning model and School social and emotional learning framework

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and community members

  • Office management experience is preferred, but not required

Background Check:

 As with all School District employees, fingerprinting and background check is required.

​

Terms:

  • Part time to full time depending on qualifications and school need

  • The current school year salary will be $25-$40 per hour depending on years of experience

  • Salary and benefit a possibility for multi-year commitment.
