SILVERTON PUBLIC SCHOOL RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP FUND DONATION
Silverton Public School would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the American Legion Post 14 and Silverton Mountain for their generous donation. This scholarship fund will support the children of Silverton Public School for generations to come. A big thank you to everyone that came to the ceremony in support of this wonderful occasion.
Silverton School had the honor of hosting an Expeditionary Learning Site Seminar the week of January 18th. Site Seminars are carefully structured two-day events that demonstrate implementation of the Expeditionary Learning Design Principles and Core Practices. Our seminar featured classroom observations; opportunities for professional conversations with Silverton staff; and conversations with community, parents, and students about the successes and struggles of learning in a K-12 rural setting.
We would like to thank all of the school officials and teachers that attended the seminar, as well as our wonderful teachers, staff and students who helped make this seminar a success! |
Silverton Teachers applied for a Fund for Teachers grant through Expeditionary Learning for ten thousand dollars to send our teaching staff to California this summer to look at how we can use what we know about the human brain to help us be better teachers
we will Investigate in San Francisco current brain research with experts at the University of California Laboratory of Educational Neuroscience and the Center for Childhood Creativity, and afterward interview educational experts at Stanford University, to introduce brain-based interventions and increase achievement of all learners.
You now join a peer group of 6,500 other preK-12 educators who refused to settle for traditional professional development or the status quo in their classroom. After navigating the globe conducting field research, attending seminars, volunteering with community organizations or observing best practices, our Fellows inspire school communities with authentic learning.
